Models

A model defines the complete set of object model definition and transformations definition that is used by the ETL Server to build the Angles for SAP object model. A model consists of a group of modules. These modules can be:

  • The standard content modules that are created, tested, and delivered by Angles for SAP ERP.
  • Custom content modules to disclose customer-specific data in SAP ERP or other systems.

An organization may use multiple models simultaneously. For example, if they have multiple entities and want to maintain separate databases for each entity, they might use different models for each entity.

A model must be defined, activated and scheduled before you start using Angles for SAP. The model is defined by specifying the Object types, Fields, and the relationships between the object types in the form of references and sublists.

An Object type is a digital representation of a business-relevant entity. For example, the object type Customer is defined by fields like name, billing address, shipping address and so on. The object type is often referred to as Object. The following image shows how Object types are related to each other via references and sublists.

After the model is set up, only authorized personnel can edit or update the model. With the Modeling Workbench, you can do the following for each model it contains if you have sufficient authorization:
