Object type (extensions) and base config

A module in the Modeling Workbench can contain the following child objects:

All these items can be customized and maintained in the Modeling Workbench.

Object types

An object type is a digital representation of a business-relevant entity in the model definition, such as Customer, Vendor, Material, Purchase Order, Sales Order, etc. It is essentially a starting point for business analytics. An object type is defined by several properties:

  • Main database table
  • Supporting database tables (optional or mandatory)
  • Joins
  • References
  • Fields
  • Filter criteria
  • Help text reference

Object type extensions

Object types in a custom content module are custom-made, or they extend standard content object types.

Base config

A base config is an object type template.

Working with object type (extensions) and base config

Click an object type name, object type extension name, or base config name in the navigation pane to display its details in the details pane. You can perform the following actions on object types, object type extensions, and base config:
