Languages

If the customer needs more (or fewer) languages than the default, you can follow the procedures below to add or remove languages. After adding or removing languages, the new language information is downloaded from the SAP server in the next refresh cycle.

Standard Languages

A basic installation of Angles for SAP includes the following languages:

  • English (default)
  • Dutch
  • French
  • German
  • Spanish

All objects, fields, Angles, Templates, and help files that are part of the default installation of Angles for SAP are available in these languages. Objects, fields, and help files that are part of a customer-specific configuration may not be available in all languages. If there is no translation available, the default language will be used. If you want to know if a language is available for a specific model, go to Languages per model.

The following components are affected by adding or removing a language:

Adding a Language

To add an additional language

  1. Open the IT Management Console.
  2. Navigate to Global Settings > Languages.
  3. Click Add Language.
  4. Select the language from the drop-down list in the table.
  5. Click Save in the top right corner.
  6. Navigate to the model for which you want to enable the added language via Models > [Model name] > Languages.
  7. Enable the language and click Save.
  8. Repeat the two previous steps for each model for which you want to enable the new language.

Adding a language will only make SAP objects and fields available in this language. The Angles for SAP content will not be available in the added language. The new language will be visible after the next Refresh cycle.

Tip: The new language is available in the Angle Details for all Angles. Validated Angles need to be validated again before they contain the new language.

Enabling a Language

Once a language is generally available you can enable it for a specific model.

To enable a language for a specific model

  1. Navigate to Models > [Model name] > Languages.
  2. Enable the languages that you want to be available in the model.
  3. Disable the languages that you do not want to use in the model. Angles created in a disabled language only are not visible in the web client.
  4. Click Save.
  5. Repeat steps 1-4 for every model.

The new language is available in all Angles except the validated ones. Those Angles need to be validated again before the language becomes available.

Deleting a Language

You can remove all languages except the default language English. Angles that were created in a language will not be visible anymore after deleting that language.

To delete a language

  1. Open the IT Management Console.
  2. Disable the language in the models that are using it.
    1. Navigate to Models > [Model Name] > Languages.
    2. Disable the language that you want to remove.
    3. Click Save in the top right corner.
    4. Repeat this step for every model that uses the language.
  3. Delete the language.
    1. Navigate to Global settings >Languages.
    2. Click MC_Trashcan behind the language you want to delete. The language is highlighted.
    3. Click Save in the top right corner. If the language is still enabled for a model, you will get a warning. Repeat the procedure to disable the language.
  4. A dialog box opens with a confirmation that the selected languages will be deleted.
  5. Click OK to confirm that you want to delete the language.
