Packages per Model

You can find an overview of the activated packages for each model in the IT Management Console. Go to Models > [Model name] > Packages to inspect the packages and their history.

The top of the screen shows an overview of all available packages. The bottom of the screen shows the Packages history.

What you need to know about packages:

  • The Business Process is always included in the package and will be merged during activation.
  • Users are included automatically when creating and activating a package.
  • Make sure that Automatically create users is checked so that users that do not exist in the system yet can be created automatically. See Authentication.
  • When a user cannot be created the Angle will be skipped.

Managing the Available Packages

In the package overview, you can see all the packages that have been added via Globalsettings >Packages. At the top right of the overview, you can select whether you want to see packages that are Active or Inactive for the currently selected model, or All packages.

You can manage the packages in the Action column. Depending on the package status, you can:

  • Activate inactive packages
  • Deactivate active packages
  • Download packages

Note: If a package contains a language that is not installed, that language will not be visible in the Angle. To install or delete a language, follow the instructions in Languages.

Adding or Deleting a Package

Packages are added globally, after which they are available for activation or deactivation. If you want to add or delete a package, you can follow the instructions in Packages. Before a package can be deleted, you need to deactivate it for all models.

Activating Packages

To activate the packages (per model)

  1. In the IT Management Console, navigate to Models > [Model name] > Packages.
  2. At the top right corner of the packages overview, select Inactive.
  3. In the Select column, select the checkbox of each package that you wish to activate.
  4. Click Activate to confirm that you want to activate the selected packages.

Note: If the activation of your package fails or causes problems, you can deactivate it. All changes that were made during package activation before the failure happened will be reverted.

Activating a Custom Package

To activate a custom package, follow the steps described in Packages per model. Before confirming the activation, you can choose to include Label categories, Labels, Private items (Angles, Dashboards, and Displays). Select Include Available via Gateway settings to make sure that included Displays remain accessible via Gateway. You can select one of the following options for duplicates:

  • Overwrite - all existing items or Label categories (including Labels) with the same ID will be overwritten by the package
  • Skip - all existing items or Label categories (including Labels) with the same ID will be skipped and remain unchanged
  • Merge - all existing Label categories (including Labels) with the same ID will be merged

If issues are found during the activation, they are solved as follows:

  • If users of Private items cannot be found during activation, those items will be assigned to the user EAsystem and a note will be added to the activation log.
  • If you choose 'Overwrite' for existing Angles, all Angles with the same ID as the Angles that are being activated will be overwritten. However, if such an existing Angle is attached to a Dashboard, it will not be overwritten. An error message will be added to the activation log.
  • If skipping Angles results in empty Dashboards, the empty Dashboards will not be activated either, and a note will be added to the activation log.
  • If a Dashboard contains more than the maximum number of Angles allowed, it will still be activated.

Deactivating Packages

To deactivate the packages (per model)

  1. In the IT Management Console, navigate to Models > [Model name] > Packages.
  2. At the top right corner of the packages overview, select Active.
  3. In the Select column, select the checkbox of each package that you wish to deactivate.
  4. Click Deactivate to confirm that you want to deactivate the selected packages.

Packages History

The Packages history table shows details about activation and deactivation events. For each event a line is added to this table, describing the action and its result. Click MC_Information in the Action column to see the history information of an event in more detail.
