Overview 

Custom objects support editable descriptions that provide users with information about an object's purpose, business context, and intended use. These descriptions help users understand when and how an object should be used when creating Angles. Descriptions are displayed during Angle creation, helping users select the correct object and reducing confusion and implementation issues.

By default, newly created custom objects, whether created manually in Designer Workbench or generated through the Angle History Reporting process, do not contain a description. Administrators and object owners can add and maintain custom descriptions to provide guidance on:

• The purpose of the object
• Its business context and origin
• When and how the object should be used in an Angle

Note: Standard SAP and insightsoftware-delivered objects include read-only descriptions maintained by insightsoftware.  
 

Adding/Editing a Description to a Custom Object 

Prerequisites: You must have appropriate Model Role Privilege to edit custom object metadata (Designer Workbench access required).. 
1. Open the Designer Workbench. 
2. Navigate to Custom Objects. 
3. Navigate to Custom Objects and select your custom object. 
4. In the object editor, locate the Text Edit field. 
 
5. Click in the Text edit field to activate editing mode.  
 
6. Enter your description text. 
 
7. Click Save   
 
Note: Changes to object descriptions are not displayed immediately. A model refresh is required before the updated description becomes available in the Angle creation interface.  

AI Description Generation  

Angles for SAP includes an AI-powered feature that can generate descriptions for custom objects based on their structure and metadata. 

Note : This is a manual and optional feature.  
 
Using AI Description Generation 
1. Open the Expert view. 
2. In the Object List, select a custom object without a description. 
3. Click Generate Description. 
The system analyzes the custom objects structure, fields, and metadata before generating the description.

4. Review the generated text.  
 
 
The AI analyzes: 
- Custom object name and naming conventions. 
- Field names and data types. 
- Field counts and structure complexity. 
- Any existing metadata or tags. 
- Common patterns in similar custom objects.
