AI Display Summary-Chat and Report Modes
Overview
The AI Display Summary feature is Interactive and conversational and empowers users to generate intelligent, context-aware summaries of their SAP data directly within Angle. By leveraging AI, the system automatically analyzes the data on any display and delivers actionable insights within seconds - removing the need for deep data analysis expertise or manual setup.
Users can interact with the AI in two distinct ways:
Chat Mode - an interactive, conversational experience where users can ask follow-up questions and explore data in real time. Ask detailed questions to validate the results, Angle’s tools are always available to help you explore the underlying data.
Report Mode - a scheduled automation that delivers AI-generated summaries to recipients via email on a defined cadence.

Activate AI Display Summary
The AI Display Summary feature must be activated at three levels before you can begin generating summaries. Administrators should complete these steps in sequence.
System-Level Activation
By default, the AI Display Summary feature is disabled at the system level. A system administrator must enable it before any user can access it.
Enable at the system level:
- Log in to Angle with a system administrator account.
- Go to System Settings > AI Enabled Features.
- Toggle the AI Display Summary option to Enabled.
- Save your changes.
Role-Level Activation
Once enabled at the system level, the feature is available to all roles by default. Administrators can grant or restrict access on a per-role basis to control which user groups can use AI summaries.
Manage role-level access:
- Go to System Settings > Roles & Permissions.
- Select the role you wish to configure.
- Locate the AI Display Summary permission and set it to Disabled or Enabled as required.
- Save your changes.
User-Level Activation
At the individual user level, the feature is disabled by default. Each user must activate it in their personal settings to begin using it.
Enable at the user level:
- Click on your user profile icon in the top-right corner of the webclient.
- Open User Settings.
- Locate the AI Display Summary option and toggle it to Enabled.
Save your preferences.
All three levels, System, Role, and User, must be configured before AI summaries become available to a user.
Personalizing AI Summaries with Instructions
AI instructions allow you to tailor the summaries generated by the AI to match specific business contexts, user roles, or display requirements. While optional, configuring instructions significantly improves the relevance and usefulness of generated summaries.
There are two types of instructions:
User-Level Instructions
User-level instructions define the persona of the user, their role, responsibilities, and priorities. The AI uses this context to shape the tone, focus, and depth of every summary generated for that user, across all displays they access.
For example, a CFO's instructions might direct the AI to emphasize financial performance and profitability metrics, while a Production Manager's instructions might focus on equipment effectiveness and output rates.
To configure user-level instructions, go to User Settings > AI Instructions and enter a description of your role and objectives.
Display-Level Instructions
Display-level instructions are applied to a specific Angle display and are shared across all users who have access to that display. These instructions focus the AI on particular columns, filters, plant areas, order statuses, or other display-specific criteria.
Any user with access to the display can view and modify display-level instructions. Individual users may also override these instructions for their own session.
Examples of Role Personas
The following table provides example personas that can be adapted for user-level instructions. These examples illustrate the type of context that helps the AI produce more relevant summaries.
| Role | Business Goals | Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) |
|---|---|---|
| CFO | Maximize profitability, ensure compliance, control costs, support strategic decisions. | EBITDA, Net Profit Margin, Cash Flow, Budget Variance, ROI |
| Sales Manager | Grow revenue, improve conversions, expand customer base, achieve sales targets. | Revenue, Conversion Rate, Average Deal Size, Pipeline Value, Customer Acquisition Rate |
| Procurement Manager | Reduce procurement costs, ensure supplier reliability, optimize purchasing. | Cost Savings %, Supplier Lead Time, Purchase Price Variance, On-Time Delivery |
| Quality Manager | Improve product quality, reduce defects, ensure compliance, enhance satisfaction. | Defect Rate, First Pass Yield, Customer Complaints, Cost of Poor Quality, Audit Compliance |
| Production Manager | Maximize efficiency, reduce downtime, meet production targets, optimize resources. | OEE, Production Output, Downtime, Scrap Rate, Cycle Time |
| Supply Manager | Optimize inventory, improve on-time delivery, minimize operational costs. | OTIF, Inventory Turnover, Order Fulfillment Rate, Lead Time, Forecast Accuracy |
Generating AI Summaries
Once the feature is enabled and optionally configured with instructions, users can begin generating AI summaries in either Chat Mode or Report Mode.
Chat Mode (Interactive)
Chat Mode provides a real-time, conversational interface where you can explore your data through dialogue. Summaries are generated in the context of the active display and can be refined through follow-up questions.
Starting a Chat Session
- Open any Angle display.
- Click the AI Analysis tab in the side panel on the right-hand side.
To generate an initial summary, either:
- Click Start AI Summary to let the AI analyze the current display automatically, or
- Type a specific question or focus area in the prompt field and press Enter or click Submit button.
Interacting with the AI
After the initial summary is generated, you can continue the conversation to explore your data further:
- Ask follow-up questions to drill deeper into specific areas.
- Request charts or visualizations of the data.
The AI will also suggest relevant follow-up questions to guide your analysis.

Session Continuity
AI summaries are retained within the current browser session. This means:
- You can navigate between multiple displays without losing your conversation history.
- Switching back to a previously analyzed display restores the AI summary from that session.
- Summaries are cleared when you refresh the page or open a new browser tab or window.
To reset the current conversation at any time, click the Refresh button located at the top of the AI Analysis panel.
Report Mode (Scheduled Email Delivery)
Report Mode enables you to schedule AI summaries as automated tasks. Automatically deliver AI-generated summaries to users, reducing the need for status meetings. Display and User Instructions ensure insights are presented in the right format for each audience, and users can jump directly into the data with a single click when they need more detail. The generated summary is delivered directly to one or more recipients via email, according to the schedule you define.
Setting Up a Scheduled AI Summary
- Navigate to the Automation Tasks configuration area.
- Create a new automation task and select AI Automation Summary as the datastore.
- Configure the following required settings:
- Run As User: specify the user whose instructions and access context the AI will use when generating the summary.
- Recipients: enter at least one valid email address to receive the summary.
- Schedule: define the frequency and timing of the summary delivery.
- Save and activate the task.
How AI Instructions Apply in Report Mode
When a scheduled summary is generated, the AI applies the user-level instructions and display-level instructions associated with the Run As User account. This ensures that the summary reflects the correct business context and priorities for the intended audience.

Email Delivery (Report Mode)
When a scheduled AI summary is delivered, the recipient receives an email containing an AI-generated narrative summary of the relevant display data.
The email includes a Start AI Analysis button. Clicking this button opens the Angle application directly to the relevant display, with the AI Analysis side panel pre-opened so that the user can immediately begin an interactive conversation.
