How to Use Angles for SAP

This section talks about how to use the Angles for SAP application to achieve desired results. If you are a new user, this topic will help you understand the work flows and action items in the application.

The following flowchart shows how to find an appropriate template that answers your business query.

Let us consider a scenario where you want to ascertain the status of all materials manufactured in your organization. Start by searching for Materials in the search page of Angles for SAP. To refine your search and identify the most pertinent template, apply relevant filters. For example,a query for a template on Materials might result in multiple results. However, by filtering these results according to the specific business process in question, you will be able to locate the templates that are most suited to your requirements.

The next step is to select a relevant Display. Click on the template and go through all the in-built displays. Check if they contain the data you are looking for. Most Templates contain a default set of Displays, including the Basic list. The Basic List Display contains detailed data related to the main object of the Template. Other default Displays are meant to cover most common use cases related to the Template.

For instance, the Template for Material contains the following Displays:

  • Basic List: Overall data for the Materials object

  • Demand: contains Fields concerning stocks and demand in the past and the expected demand in the future.

The special fields 'Stock Shortage Quantity' and 'Stock Excess Quantity' are the sum of the values on plant level. When a plant has a stock shortage for a certain material and another plant has an excess stock level, this overview will show both excess and shortage for the material. This could be a strong indication for moving material from one plant to another in order to reduce working capital and at the same time improve service level.

  • Number per Creation date: A Chart Display showing the Count of materials available based on creation date.

  • Number per Material type: A Chart Display showing the Count of materials available for each material type.

  • Stock: A List Display with fields to show available stocks for different materials.

  • Stock Shortage and Excess per type: a Pivot Display showing stock shortage value and stock excess value for each material type.

When you click on a Template, it gets executed. In other words, when you view any of the Displays in a Template, the data fields are automatically refreshed to reflect the most current status of the data.

Now, let us assume the data field you are looking for is not present in any of the Displays. You can add the field or fields to a display of your choice. In case the existing pivot Display does not answer your query, you can edit the rows and columns and customize the Pivot. For example, to find out the number of materials that have been created per quarter, you can create a Pivot Display on the Created On field. This display shows you all the materials created per quarter. You can also adjust the settings to show materials created per week, month or year.
