Pivot

The Pivot is one of the available Display types. A pivot table is a summarization tool. Among other functions, a pivot table can automatically sort, count a total or give the average of the data stored in one table or spreadsheet, displaying the results in a second table showing the summarized data.

The rows and columns in a Pivot are interactive. You can switch (pivot) from a summary of all to the individual values.

In the following example, we take a look at a Pivot. In this example, all the rows are collapsed and the underlying data is summarized in the table.

If you want to take a closer look at the underlying data, you can expand a row. The table then shows a breakdown of the data in that row. You can also drill down to the raw data by clicking on an element in the pivot table (see Drilldown).

The same applies to the columns in a pivot table. Pivots are powerful tools to quickly summarize large data volumes.
