Performance Management in EA4IT

With EA4IT, you can gain insight into system performance, and identify bottlenecks in the daily refresh process in order to optimize performance.

Available Templates

• Model loads are the load processes that start when the extraction is finished. A model load consists of different phases, in which the object model is built and loaded into memory. This object includes general information on model loads. Each model load is a separate record.

• Model load phases can be used to get a more detailed view on model loads, as it zooms in on specific phase during the model load.

• Model load classes can also be used to get a more detailed view of model loads. This template can be used to analyze model load performance on the class level.

• Extractions are processes in which tables are extracted from the (SAP) data source(s) in order to refresh the Angles for SAP data model. This object includes general information about extractions. Each extraction is a separate record.

• Extraction tables enable you to see more details on extracted tables during each extraction, for performance monitoring purposes.

Sample Use Case: Monitoring the Daily Refresh Cycle

An admin user suspects the extraction from SAP to Angles for SAP to be slower on Thursdays and would like to check the duration of the extraction per day in a graph.

To check the duration of the extraction per day in a graph

1. Open Template Extraction. The Basic List view appears.

2. Click on the column header of Started timestamp and click Create chart. A new graph Display appears.

3. In the configuration bar on the left, click (Self) – Started timestamp [Per quarter].

4. Click Format field, change to bucket Per day, and click Apply.

   This chart gives you valuable insight into daily performance and enables you to detect trends. The chart is also a good starting point for further analysis of the performance of the daily extraction process.
