System Log

The log files in the System log offer information on actions occurring within the system. The maximum number of log files and their size limit can be managed with the Web Server settings. The system log contains the log files of the following categories:

  • Application Server
  • Event log
  • Management Console
  • Web Client
  • Model Server
  • Repository

You can view your log files directly in the IT Management Console, and you can download them to your computer.

Application Server

On starting the Application Server, a selection of log files is automatically generated. They include the actions related to the Application Server: Client, Debug, Error, General, Integrity check, Metadata & Scheduling.

Event Log

The Event log contains all log files generated for events and tasks that have a start and end time. Some of these log files can also be found in other categories, for example, here you can find the overall log file for the refresh cycle, while the Model Server log contains the files for the individual steps of the refresh cycle.

Management Console

The Management Console log files are generated for all actions related to the IT Management Console.

Web Client

The Web Client log files are generated for all actions related to the Web Client.

Model Server

The Model Server log files are generated for all actions related to the Model Server. These are the available categories:

  • Model agent

    The Model agent conducts all communication from and to the Model Server.

  • Connection Settings

    The Connection Settings retrieves specified data from SAP. Go to Models > [Model name] > Connection Settings to change the settings of the Connection Settings.

  • EA4IT/Real-time Model Server

  • Server(s)

    The Server stores all the data extracted by the Connection Settings. If you have multiple servers, each server has its own log files.

Repository

The Repository log files and debug log files are generated for all actions related to the Content Repository.

Viewing Logging Details

To view logging details

  1. Click MC_View_More and select View. In case of the Event log, click Info. The log file is opened.

  2. Click All to filter the logging events by category, or enter a search string in the Filter field. Note that Event logging cannot be filtered.

Downloading Logging Details

To download logging details

  1. Click MC_view_more .

  2. Select Download.

    The logging details are downloaded to your computer. Note that Event logging cannot be downloaded.
