Label Categories

Angles for SAP can contain any number of Angles and Dashboards. If you label them into categories it will be easier to find the one you need. Categorization of Angles and Dashboards is done with Labels.

Example:

A company has two warehouses, one in the USA and one in Europe. When an Angle is created for the inventory of the American warehouse the value of the materials needs to be represented in US dollars. For the European warehouse, the same item needs to be shown in Euros, so an extra Angle is created. Now two Angles with the same name and purpose exist in the system. If you search for the information, you need to be careful that you execute the correct Angle.

When a label Region is created and added to these Angles, you can use that label as a filter for your search. This way you will only see the correct Angle for the region you are in. This label can also be used to set privileges. When you have the privilege Region=Europe set, you will only be able to execute the Angle applicable for the region Europe.

Managing Label Categories

To create a new label category

  1. Click Add label category.

  2. Add the ID. A label ID is mandatory and must be unique to the system. If the ID is not unique, an error will be displayed. Make sure you choose a meaningful name.

  3. Add a [language] description for each active language. Every label category contains a language-dependent description. The English description is mandatory. When no description is available for a language, the English description will be used.

  4. Click Save to save the label category.

  5. Activate the label category for the model.

    1. Navigate to Models > [Model name] > Labels.

    2. Select Active for model for the label category.

    3. Click Save.

  6. Repeat step 7 for each model for which you want to activate the label category.

  7. Navigate to Global Settings >Label categories.

  8. Click Reload to refresh the list of label categories.

Label categories can also be added via packages. Some packages may contain Angles with label categories that do not exist in the system at the time of import. The system will automatically create those categories and activate them for the model those Angles belong to.

Managing Labels

Label categories bundle labels that are related. The label category Region, for example, could contain labels like Europe, North America, and Asia.

To manage the labels of a category

  1. Open the IT Management Console.
  2. Navigate to Global Settings >Label categories.
  3. Click MC_Edit next to a label category to manage the labels it contains. You can:
    1. Click Add label to create a label. You need to supply the following:
      • Abbreviation - This can be a maximum of 10 characters long, and it has to start with a letter.
      • [language] description - The English description is mandatory and is used if a description in another language is not present. Add a description for each active language.
    2. Click MC_Trashcan next to a label to mark it for deletion.
  4. Click Save to confirm your changes.

You can also add label categories via packages. A package may contain Angles with label categories that do not exist in the system at the time of import. The system will automatically create those categories and activate them for the model those Angles belong to.
