Editing the Content of a Chart

Note:

This functionality is only available if you have sufficient privileges. Your privileges are maintained by your system administrator in the IT Management Console .

You can edit each axis of a Chart to customize it according to your preferences. You can choose a different field, change the grouping, and more.

To edit the content of a Chart

  1. Execute the Angle that contains the Display (see Executing an Angle or Template ). The Angle results page opens.

  2. Find the Display in the Displays pane . If there are many Displays, the Display tab of the Display might not be immediately visible. In that case, click to see the list of available Displays and find your Display there.

  3. On the Details pane (Angle) , click the Display details (Angle) tab.

  4. In the Chart options section, you can edit the Chart characteristics:

    • Categories (horizontal axis) - Depending on the data type of the category, you can either change the category or select the required grouping of the data (bucket) for the horizontal axis.

    • Series - You can change the data series that you are interested in. For example, the "Historical delivery reliability value orders" chart in the "Sales revenue" Angle will give you an overview of the delivery reliability performance per period as a function of the total "Sales value" in that period.

    • Data (vertical axis) - You can change the vertical axis depending on the type of data used. You can select Count to use the standard count option or add your own field. If the vertical axis contains more than one field, you can drag and drop them to change their order.

    Tip: You can drag and drop the selected fields between the Categories and the Series to switch them.

    To change the category, data, or series

    1. Click WC_Create_New_Display_Icon next to the item you want to change. The Field chooser opens.

    2. Select the new category, data, or series from the list. For your convenience, a number of useful items are suggested (WC_suggested).

    3. Click OK.

    To change the grouping of a category

    1. Hover the cursor over the category name.

    2. Click WC_Icon_FormatField. A dialog box opens.

    3. Select the Bucket and Format for the category. For instance, if the category is a date, you can group by day, week, month, etc. If the category is a phrase, you can group by the number of characters. A category "Salesperson" with a grouping of the first 3 characters ('abb') will combine all results for the salespersons Abba, Abbey and Abby, but not Abe and Abigail.

    4. Click OK.

    To edit the data that is displayed

    1. Hover over the category, data, or series name.

    2. You can edit the data that is displayed for the item depending on the available icons.

      • Click WC_Filter_Icon to filter the data (see Field filters).

      • Click WC_Icon_FormatField to edit the format of the data. The available formatting options depend on the type of data. See Formatting a field (Chart) and Specifying the data formats.

      • Click WC_Icon_Sort_Ascending to sort the data ascending or WC_Icon_Sort_Descending to sort the data descending. The Chart Display will be sorted based on the values of the vertical axis.

      • Click WC_Delete_Icon_red to remove the item.

    Tip: You can click to undo your most recent change.

  5. Click WC_Button_Apply_Active.

  6. In the Action bar , click to save the Display .

    You can also save the entire Angle and all the Displays it contains in one go. Click the caret of the Save Display button ( ) and select Save all .

    Note: If you edit and save a Display that is linked to an automation task, you will get a confirmation prompt to indicate this. If you have edited more than one Display , the confirmation dialog box will list them all. Deselect a Display if you do not want to save the changes you made. If you have sufficient privileges, click to open the corresponding automation task in the IT Management Console. Only save your changes if you are aware of their impact. Changing a Display that is linked to an automation task may cause the automation task to fail.
